To maximise the reach and impact of your research, Fracture and Structural Integrity requires the mandatory submission of a Video Visual Abstract for all accepted papers. This 2-minute "scientific trailer" highlights the core value of your work to the global structural integrity community.
To ensure your video is effective and professional, please adhere to the following structural and technical guidelines:
1. Narrative Structure: The "3-Step" Rule
Your video should follow a clear, logical flow to keep the viewer engaged:
The hook: Start by defining the specific problem or knowledge gap you are addressing. Why does this fracture or structural issue matter?
The procedure: Briefly explain your approach. Whether it is experimental testing, numerical modelling, or analytical derivation, show the "how" behind your research.
The scientific results: Conclude with your primary findings and their significance for the field. What is the key takeaway for the reader?
2. Audio & Narration
Human voice only: Please use a real, clear human voice (no AI-generated Text-to-Speech). Authenticity is key to engaging your peers.
Clarity: Speak at a natural pace in English. Ensure your voice is recorded in a quiet environment with a high-quality microphone.
3. Visual Quality
High-resolution assets: Use high-quality figures, FEA animations, or micrographs directly from your paper. Avoid blurry or low-contrast images.
Minimalist design: Do not overcrowd the screen with text. Use visuals to tell the story and your voice to provide the context.
4. Technical Requirements
Duration: Maximum 2 minutes (120 seconds).
Format: MP4 (Standard 16:9 aspect ratio).
First slide: Include the paper title, list of authors.
